Pill & District Food Hub
About us
The Hub provides affordable food every week to those within the community who are in need. The Hub is open every Friday at the Community Centre. For a donation of £3.50 recipients can take from a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, chilled items, ambient and dry food. We also have limited toiletries, female hygiene products, household products and pet food. What we are able to provide varies each week depending on supplies.
In addition, those in immediate need are able to ask for a "crisis bag" from the Resource Centre whenever it is open (6 days per week). This bag contains ambient and dry food designed to cover an immediate need until the recipient can go to The Hub on a Friday (it is not designed to be a regular source of food). Crisis bags are free.
The Hub is starting to expand our role to regularly offer more support. We're working with the Community Officer and Development Worker, Sirona, the GP surgery and the local Social Prescriber to organise regular information and advice sessions in the areas of health and well-being, energy, benefits and debt management, and getting back to work. We hope these sessions will be of great benefit to those in need who use our service. One of our key aims is to support people until they are able to support themselves. These sessions will run alongside The Hub (private space will be provided if needed) and will be advertised in advance on our Facebook page
